Review - Darna Zaroori Hai:

I hav already made it clear that movies aprt frm js being themselves r an experience for me..
hence in all my reviews(ye u gotta bear mor of these with time) its gonna be xplaind as if its been n xperience.

Under the considersation of the followin...
1. '36 china town' is yet to be releasd
2. a guy with me didn wnt to watch 'mistress of spices' of aish as he thot its gonna be arty/borin(n my types.. hmm thnx hiru)
3. a gal with me didn wanna watch 'gangster' as it had imram hasmi(or whtever new way hes startd spellin it). no comments, manasa.
4. the other gal didn actually mind js anythin at all, wel almost nw suchu.
,We agreed upon to darna zaruri hai, 5:45 ka show saturday 29/4, citypulse@ ahemdabad

I beleive this is 1st official kinda remake in india w r t 'darna mana hai'( underminin the fact that there cant really be a sequeal to 6 parallel stories with n end and that krissh is yet to come up)
This one goes on similar lines...

( the basic plot...)
6 kids lost durin a picnic end up in a haunted haveli with an old witch.
one of the kids says he never fears anythin.. dadi(witch) insists on disagreein n provin him wrong thru 6 diff horrifyin(wel nt really) stories till the end.

lets go storywise...
(since u c the right kind a spellin in the follwin its kinda obvious that some wee-bit here is copy pasted, bt thn wt the heck, i m n engineer n kno hw ive completd my submissions n all(like maddy in RHTDM n also chk the level of importance i give to this submissions/reviewin thing of mine... dont take too seriously tho)

Story 1:
Actor: Manoj Pahwa. Director: Sajid Khan.

The fat guy Pahwa is a film buff, watches every movie first day last sho. while he readies himself to visit a nearby theatre to catch the new DARNA MANA HAI, his mother cautions him against taking the route via the graveyard. Pahwa dismisses his mother's plea since he doesn't believe in ghosts n goes to n fro it(hope thts correct angrezy) On his way back, he dies of cardiac failure outside the graveyard.( nw id rather nt reveal the nt-smthin-gr8 secret)
Nw ramu luvs to be a this pleasantly stange director n mak fun of himself b4 throwin it at others.(kinda my atitude mayb). This has been one of the better ways to announce/introduce a part-2(its nt actually a sequeal here) to the audience- dismiss the prev effort n declare 'here... ive got smthin new'

This hs been frm among the better first 20-25 mins in a moive since zinda n salaam namate.
Pahwa works. Sajid shows signs of a fine director.

Story 2:
Actors: Amitabh Bachchan, Ritesh Deshmukh. Director: Ramgopal Varma

i realy dnt evn wnt to write the plot. it nt at all scary one... it has more of shock-value. This one surely wud change the way a faint-hearted viewer is gonna luk at the mirror for the next coupla days.(for the revealin sake of it the only time you get a jolt is when the 'invisible man' appears in the mirror.)Bt ironically it ends right there. mor ironically its been directd by ramu himself. u kno this ramu -u, n evn the actors, for sure deserved a better story.

Story 3 :
Actors: Arjun Rampal, Bipasha Basu, Makrand Deshpande. Director: Prawal Raman.
( i dunno where were my brain cells(oh come on dont tel me i dont hav thm) busy. with bipasha on screen i wnt with my buddy to meet the manager of multiplx to complain bout the Ac nt bein effectiv enuf... i mean i dont like keep waitin a pretty hot lady, not bipasha atleast ;) )

This one is kinda the the nana-vivek story in the first 'darna' exersice.
arjun luks a hunk. bipasha impresses thru her actin n jism. makrand is gud as usual.
The story has its moments. In fact, there are times when the viewer gets startled. Even the culmination to the story is unexpected. But the problem is that it takes too much time to reach the peak n hence bcomes obvious. Prawal's storytelling improves after gayab.

Story 4:
Actors: Suniel Shetty, Sonali Kulkarni, Rajpal Yadav. Director: Vivek Shah.

A Maharashtrian couple [Suniel, Sonali] have an unexpected visitor- a weirdly obsessive insurance agent [Rajpal Yadav]. n thn he continuously insists the couple to buy a policy n al xpalin that accidents are never plannd.
Gud story. bt nt really a horror one.
sunils is gud. sonali( i kinda like her voice so much) hs lil to do. rajpal steals the sho like everytime i guess. chk him out bein impatient patient for the sale with tht smile. an Actor(with a capital A)-bollywod needs mor like him.

Story 5:
Actors: Anil Kapoor, Mallika Sherawat. Director: Jijy Philip.

A leading film-maker [Anil] wants to change lanes. After making a couple of family dramas, he is keen to make a horror film next. He decides to write the concluding portions of his script at his bungalow in Khandala. En route, he spots a lone lady [Mallika] and offers to give her a lift till Khandala. When they reach the film-maker's bungalow, the lady keeps playin with the idea of being a ghost, or is she.
The conversation between Anil and Mallika in the car first and sequences in the bungalow next are involving.
Anil js hangs around.while Mallika is efficient(n btw dunno why she reminds me of MJ (michal jacson)
gud plot with shok value+horror.
Also ramu taks the opporunity to ridicule the family-drama types. So anil is karan chopra whos got an assistant calld dharma.
jijy js does the job with a gud story.

Story 6 :
Actors: Randeep Hooda, Zakir Hussain, Rasika Joshi. Director: Chekeravarthy.

On a rainy night, a young man [Randeep] accidentally bumps into a woman(with a beautiful midriff;) ) . He is petrified. The next morning, when he opens his eyes, he finds himself in the police lock-up. He is accused of murdering a man. He claims he's innocent. The cop [Zakir] refuses to buy the story. The mother-in-law of the victim [Rasika] arrives at the police station only to get killd .
Truly, the best story of the enterprise. The entire track keeps you on the edge.
But heres my tak:
hw bout randeep bein acutally shown to be cop as well towards the end... to get the mother-in-law of victim confess the crime and die of a cardiac arrest n then the victim's ghost turnin up to say thanx(or kinda).( whotsay ramu... i dont mind providin assistance for 'kya darna zaruri hai' or whtevers nxt if any)
Randeep (luks gud n bit like enrique) n zakir excel.
Chekeravarthy(is he the same satya guy???) is in full form.

Final Word:

They define scary as 'Causing fright or alarm'. Let's get this straight- 'Scary' is too strong a word for DZH. and sinces its frm ramu(whos givn us raat, bhoot n vastu shastra) its like readin 2 month old newspaper.

But...
The kind of chairs (v bot the tickets for these reclinin ones where they served popcorn, samose, softdrinks and had a rotatin stand for it) i ws on + the trailers that i saw in the begininin/interval+ the first 20 mins+ arjun-bipashas luks/ story+ rajpals performance+randeeps story+ the kinda printa/camerawork used(tinted or smthin like blak n white)+the fact that i like wachin movies ===> i njoid darna zaruri hai.

Nw i m too busy a guy compard to those who do this full-time-reviewin-movies-thng... bt stil i try n afford to rate it outta 5 points..

the most positive n pleasant himanshu wud give it 2/5.

PS:
i did play a kinda small prank while in the movie...and this ws nt evn 1% of my idea.

while the bipasha-arjun story ws on.. i slowly wnt behind one of the females we hd gone with n js sat ther for a while.. as soon as tht story ended i ws gonna mov my hand to her neck or so.. bt she kinda turnd around to talk to the guys nxt to him n ws scard enuf to c smone behind..bt pleasantly, hopfuly, found it to be me( or ws it evn mor scary suchu???). she shoutd n ws like... 'dont do that pls'.... I really dont kno wht she did for the next 2 mins or so..i kept askin r u cryin or laughin n all i kept getin ws NO.(wht ws it anyways suchu?).
